Parish:  St. James' Paso Robles

After the meeting on April 30 in Atascadero, six of us from St. James, Paso Robles, gathered to discuss the meeting. Four thoughts emerged from that discussion:

1) a flat rate fair share could work but it needs to be based on what the Diocese actually needs to operate including funding of missions;

2) base the fair share on prior year's income;

3) money flowing down to the parish/mission level is acceptable but minimize the "red tape" around it as small parishes do not have the resources to complete and submit grants;

4) stay focused on fixing the two key problems (lack of communication and the way that people were selected for positions) rather than changing the structure per se (in other words, fixing those problems may not require a change of structure and a change in structure does not necessarily fix those problems).

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Maxwell

Thank you for the DESC presentation at the Tri-Deanery meeting at St. Ed's Tuesday evening.  I appreciated the opportunity to see the progress being made and the directions the DESC is exploring, and I am encouraged by the progress.

The work of the DESC and the future of our diocese remain in my prayers. May you feel God's guidance in your work.

It was a terrific presentation of a stunning amount of work.  Thanks for all you did last night and for all you and the team are doing.  I can hardly wait to see how this turns out.

Blessings,
Linda Taylor+
