General Convention 2006

Introducing Your Deputies:  Gordon Gritter

June 17, 2006

Dr. Gordon Gritter is a five-time Deputy to General Convention. He is a member of St. Stephen’s, San Luis Obispo, where he serves on the vestry and sings in the choir. Asked about his many years of service to the Diocese of El Camino Real, he modestly reports that he is “president of the Standing Committee, emeritus.”

At General Convention, Gordon serves on the Social and Urban Affairs Committee, which deals with issues such as discrimination, racism, sexism, and other cultural concerns. He says he is finding this General Convention “grueling but interesting, stimulating, informative, and rewarding.” He also wants members of the diocese to know that “our lapel buttons saying ‘El Camino Real – Alive and Well’ are being noted here with amusement and appreciation.”
