The Rt. Rev.
Sylvestre Romero-Palma, formerly Bishop of the
Anglican Diocese of Belize, served as the Assisting Bishop for the
Diocese of El Camino Real until September
2007.
In gratitude for his ministry
among us, the Standing Committee awarded him
the Bishop's Cross in October
2007.
Bishop Romero
was born in Belize on December 31, 1944, and
grew up in Belize City as a Roman Catholic.
As a teenager he went to Guatemala, where he
became a member of the Anglican Church and
married Evangelina (Eva), a Guatemalan.
Bishop Romero
received a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology in
Guatemala, where he was ordained priest and
served for 12 years. In 1986, he moved to
California and served in many roles in El
Camino Real. On January 25, 1994 he was
ordained Bishop of the Anglican Church in
Belize. His ministry is multi-faceted, but
he is know first and foremost as as a
pastor, teacher, and healer.
