The Rt. Rev. Sylvestre Romero-Palma, formerly Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Belize, served  as the Assisting Bishop for the Diocese of El Camino Real until September 2007.

In gratitude for his ministry among us, the Standing Committee awarded him the Bishop's Cross in October 2007.

Bishop Romero now serves as an Assisting Bishop in the Diocese of New Jersey .

Bishop Romero was born in Belize on December 31, 1944, and grew up in Belize City as a Roman Catholic. As a teenager he went to Guatemala, where he became a member of the Anglican Church and married Evangelina (Eva), a Guatemalan.

Bishop Romero received a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology in Guatemala, where he was ordained priest and served for 12 years. In 1986, he moved to California and served in many roles in El Camino Real. On January 25, 1994 he was ordained Bishop of the Anglican Church in Belize. His ministry is multi-faceted, but he is know first and foremost as as a pastor, teacher, and healer.
