& Sisters:
I have been accepted to serve as Assisting Bishop in the
Diocese of New Jersey effective October 1, 2007. I will
be sharing duties with Bishop George Councell such as
visitations, confirmations, receptions and
reaffirmations; with ordinations, institutions and with
the pastoral care for the clergy and their families. In
addition I will have a leadership role in expanding the
mission of the Diocese, working with the Board of
Missions and among Hispanics and other cultures.
Once again, I want to thank each and everyone for
your support and love during the years of my ministry in
this Diocese. You have been patient with me as well as
good teachers. I have received a wealth of education
about the role of a bishop and I feel much more equipped
to share what I have learned with our brothers and
sisters in the Diocese of New Jersey.
Eva and I are very grateful for your hospitality. You
will always be in our prayers and hearts. God continue
to bless you in your journey with the Very Reverend Mary
Gray-Reeves, bishop-elect.

He sido aceptado para servir como obispo asistente en la
Diocesis de Nueva Jersey comenzando Octubre 1, 2007.
Estare compartiendo las obligaciones episcopado con el
Obispo Geroge Councell, visitando congregaciones,
confirmando, haciendo recepciones, reafirmaciones de
votos, con ordenaciones, instituciones y cuidado
pastoral a los cleros y sus familias. Ademas tendre un
rol como lider en la mision de la diocesis, trabajando
con el Comite de Misiones y con los hispanos y otros
grupos etnicos. De nuevo, quiero darles las gracias
por el apoyo y amor que nos brindaron durante los anos
de mi ministerio entre ustedes en esta diocesis. Han
sido muy pacientes conmigo como tambien ser buenos
maestros. He recibido una riqueza en la educacion sobre
el papel del obispado y me siento mucho mas equipado
para compartir lo que he aprendido con nuestros hermanos
y hermanas en la Diocesis de Nueva Jersey. Eva y yo
estamos muy agradecidos por la hospitalidad que nos
brindaron. Siempre estaran en nuestras oraciones y
corazones. Dios les bendiga en su relacion y ministerio
con la Muy Reverenda Mary Gray-Reeves, Obispo electa.
