Vocare

Vocare is an international organization with a local chapter in this diocese and in the Northern California (Sacramento) diocese.  Local chapters of Vocare host renewal retreat weekends for young adults aged 19 to 35, with a format very similar to Cursillo and Happening retreats.  Check the Calendar  pages for upcoming events.

Happening

Happening is a Christian program designed for youth in grades 9-12. It is one of the instruments to renew the church in the power of the Holy Spirit, that the church may respond more readily to its call to spread the Kingdom of God throughout the world.  Happening seeks to bring young persons to a fuller personal knowledge of and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and to a deeper level of commitment and apostleship.  During the weekend gathering, participants experience the love of our Lord Jesus Christ as shown through the sacraments and the ministry of fellow students, clergy, and lay adults.  Teens are encouraged to take a renewed faith back into their worlds to “make a friend, be a friend, and bring a friend to Christ.” This is all accomplished through fellowship, singing, and a lot of fun!  Look for upcoming events on the Youth Events page or the Calendar.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings is a unique weekend especially designed to respond to the issues, concerns and needs of teenagers in grades 7-9.  There are a series of songs, skits, tapes, talks (by youth and adults) and small group discussions. These focus around subjects such as Self, Friends, Parents, Siblings, School, God's Love, Prayer, Who is Jesus? and the Church. There is also plenty of playing, laughing, creating and sharing. Participants will not only learn and grow, but will also have the time of their lives.
